Perry-winkle Farm sends their greeetings from Terra Madre
from Mike-
Hello to everyone at home. It’s been a wonderful and inspiring trip so far. The town, Vicoforti, and the Hotel Portifici where we are staying are beautiful and very old. The church around which the hotel complex is built is amazing- with beautiful brick work. We will bring home lots of pictures. There is a lot of brick in Italy, brick and stucco everywhere. This trip has really enlightened me to the fact that we have great regular customers at our markets that want to eat in the right way- fresh and local!!!! I told Cathy that we need to start cooking more of our good food at home (let’s see if it happens) Hello to all our family members, too!

from Cathy-
I thought that this would be very easy to send a message home to all our friends and family. I figured that we could tell a few stories of how our trip was going. But now, six days into the adventure, our stories are way too numerous to even figure which ones to relate. Michael and I flew into Geneva Switzerland and after a day there took the train down to our “home away from home”. We joined the rest of our group Wednesday evening over a late dinner in a room that is part of a beautiful monastery. Sharing lots of stories and good food and vino- we easily slipped into the manner of all that is Italian.

We are feeling very fortunate to be traveling with good friends, old and new, as we take part in this amazing assembly. As if this meeting wasn’t enough to keep us busy, right next door there is ther most amazing food show going on. Every free moment finds us sampling cheeses, breads, and wines from all over the Italian countryside. There is no such thing as too much here in Torino.

I have to leave for now- it is time for the USA delegates to get together for a session. Apparently we are the largest group next to the Italians. Know that we are very well and very appreciative of the opportunity we have to be here in Torino. We are thankful for the folks who planned the event, the volunteers who are helping us in many ways, but mostly we are very thankful for those wonderful folks- Matty, Megan, Melissa, Chris, and Emily, who are running the farm and going to market so we could be here.

We love you all!!! Mike and Cathy
